Fall's Sandwich

This is a very delicious sandwich!  It is such a perfect combination of flavors (sweet, smoky, salty, and spicy)!

Fall's Sandwich

A loaf of Artisan bread, sliced
Black forest ham, thinly sliced
Apple butter
Gruyere cheese, sliced
Spicy mustard
Arugula dressed with a little olive oil and sea salt

Preheat your broiler to high.  Spread slices of bread with apple butter.  Top half of the bread slices with thinly sliced ham and slices of gruyere cheese.  Place on a baking sheet under the broiler.  Broil for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.  Place the top half of the sandwich onto the bottom half that is in the oven for just a minute or so (watch carefully, it will burn in a hurry).  This lets the top of the sandwich to get a little crispy and brown around the edges.  Before eating, I like to open my sandwich and top with arugula.  Serve with Spicy Mustard.

Recipe from Not Without Salt (with a couple of minor changes)
